About the Role
In this role you will be working in the Arts & Culture team and through a commitment to delivering the best visitor experiences possible, building audience and the highest professional standards, you will assist with the development and delivery of education and learning opportunities that support interpretation of National Wool Museum exhibitions and collections and enhance an understanding of local and Australian history and heritage. Your work will directly contribute to successfully building visitation and reputation and support the Museum’s excellence in education as well as cultural, audience diversification and financial objectives.

This is a permanent part-time position working 60.8 hours per fortnight.

Under the direction of the Engagement, Learning and Programs Manager you will deliver the National Wool Museum (NWM) education and learning programs, activities, workshops and events.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality programs for education booked groups and general audiences from early learners to senior learners.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of Australian curriculum-based programs for students and curriculum support materials for educators.
  • Maintaining spaces, materials and resources used in the delivery of the programs.
  • Assisting in the development, sourcing, preparation and maintaining of program materials.
  • Proactively engaging education institutions in order to increase student and educator visitation/participation in programs.
  • Proactively researching and identifying education opportunities for the NWM to participate in; such as: local and national events and professional development for teachers.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant qualification in teaching, education or related discipline. Such as: knowledge and skills gained through completion of a post trade certificate or other post-secondary qualification or knowledge and skills gained through on the- job training
  • Current employee Working with Children check.
  • Demonstrated experience as a program deliverer and ability to interpret content and deliver engaging programs in a museum or similar cultural institution for a broad range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated teaching skills and experience in the preparation and delivery of educative programs and materials for various age and skill levels that capture the students’ imagination and communicate key messages to an audience.
  • Strong commitment to and proven ability to deliver a quality customer focused service and work harmoniously with a range of groups and individuals.


  • Demonstrated understanding of current inquiry-based learning theory and practice across broad audiences, from early years to adult education.
  • Demonstrated experience in education and visitor programs in a museum or similar cultural institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and the principles for a culturally diverse society.
  • Familiarity with Victorian and/or Australian curriculum.
  • Experience in local government.
